NYFW roundup with fashion insider Lisa Ruffle

As New York Fashion Week wraps up their showcase of Fall 2017 collections, we chatted with Lisa Ruffle, International Buyer at Moda Operandi – the online fashion powerhouse based in New York City, where she spends her time traveling between Milan, Paris and London to source and select the best the world has to offer in fashion and accessories.

Here’s a sneak peek into her most coveted pieces to grace the runway this year and her top pre-season picks available online now through Moda Operandi’s exclusive trunkshows, where you can be the first to preorder next season’s top collections straight from the runway – from anywhere in the world. But first, in her own words, Ruffle gives us her spin on fall trends, emerging designers, and why Paris is her favorite fashion city …

What’s your personal mantra when it comes to fashion editing?

Always look forward: what’s new, what’s next? At Moda Operandi we’re always looking for pieces that are feminine, confident and have a sense of fun. If it’s not fun, why bother?

With New York Fashion Week just wrapping up, what are your favorite trends popping up for Fall 2017?

Statement outerwear will play a huge part again for Fall ’17 – a trend we saw everywhere on the streets at the shows, resonating again on the runways. The more luxurious the better!

Which new New York designers do you most covet at the moment?

I’m a huge fan of emerging design duo, Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock, behind Brock Collection. Their feminine aesthetic offers a unique point of view to the casualness and overtly sexy we see a lot at NYFW. Their recent show had me coveting their heavenly fur coats, cult jeans, and interesting tops that will transform any outfit.

What’s your preferred fashion show city and why; New York, Paris, London, or Milan?

Paris without question. Even though it’s the last city on the circuit, Paris always delivers. The finesse and calibre of brands take it to a new level.

At Whilo, we’re committed to making sure those we love get gifted properly (ourselves included). What’s the most memorable gift you’ve ever given or received?

In my opinion, the best presents to give or receive are the unique and thoughtful ones that are always hard to think of! I once received a very special bottle of wine for Christmas that my friend had made himself from the very first (limited) batch of grapes grown at his winery. Knowing the ambition and passion that had gone into that wine … well, I think that was the gift in and of itself.
